If I'm going to spend more than a hundred bucks on an item or somewhere around there, I do extensive research first to know I got the best bang-for-the-buck and, consequently, dodge any potential future buyer's remorse.

I've realized that the time I spend doing my product comparisons is often time that others don't have so I may as well share what I can.

I'll start by saying that you'll see my "Verified Amazon Purchase" on the Flip HD Ultra Camcorder review because, obviously, that's the one I wound up buying and I'll share with you why. But what I like in a camcorder may not suit your own needs so I'll break it down and let you decide what's best for you via what I found out:

Here are the pocket camcorders I compared:

Flip UltraHD (will be referred to as "F")
Flip Mino HD 2nd generation (Will be referred to as "M")
Creative Labs Vado HD 8 GB 2nd generation (Will be referred to as "CL")
Kodak Zi6 Pocket HD (Will be referred to as "K")

Why HD cameras only? Brighter colors and better images, wider images

HD SHOOTING TIME:
F: 120 minutes.
M: 120 minutes
CL:120 minutes
K: 25 minutes with batteries they included, 120 minutes if you buy an SD card

MEMORY:
F: 8 GB
M:8 GB
CL: 8 GB
K: internally only 30 MB recording space but it has 32 GB expandable SD/SDHC card slot. Because it comes with such small recording space you really need to buy an SD or SDHC card to maximize its potential, but the potential is really good and this will increase your ability to shoot longer.

RESOLUTION:
All 720p which is excellent, just one step below the top 1080p format.

MICROPHONE:
F: Stereo
M: Mono **Update** They are now putting Stereo Mics in the Minos as of 2010.
CL: Mono
K: Mono

SOUND:
F:Premier AAC audio. Best stereo sound quality but still not great in winds
M:Good sound quality. Still not good in winds.
CL:Poor sound quality; had issues with sound and picture not being in sync.
K:Poor sound quality

ZOOM:
F: 2x

K: poor quality zoom on the one I tried but I still think it's 2x. It has a great macro focus for very close-up objects if, for example, you see a bumble bee and want to shoot it on a leaf a few inches away! Kinda cool.

TECHNICAL DETAILS:
F: USB cable pops out of the back so you don't need to keep up with a separate cable. Comes with Flip Video rechargeable AA battery pack (recharges when connected to USB); also supported by standard AA batteries. Note: Some sets come with the HDMi mini included and others come with the rechargeable battery pack on Amazon. Looks like one or the other but of course if you need both you can buy the other.
M: USB cable pops out of the back on this one as well. Has child safe button to prevent accidental deletion of videos. Internal lithium ion battery recharges through built-in USB arm
CL: USB in camcorder. Included in box are HDMI cable (nice), USB extension cable,(nice)silicon skin (cool) & rechargeable battery.
K: Included in box are HD and AV cables and wrist strap and rechargeable batteries and battery charger. Has built in USB arm.

SPEED:
F: 30 frames per second.
M: 30 frames per second
CL: 30 frames per second
K: choice of 30 frames per second or 60 frames per second.

VIEWING SCREEN: All 2" except the Kodak was the largest at 2.4"

IMPORTANT NOTES:
F: Best low-light performance for the mini cameras (though not perfect at all) and least amount of blurring and dropped frames in my opinion. Best color. Only one with stereo sound. You can get an underwater case for this one! Though that may sound crazy for a Texan, we use the camera non-stop on vacations and even when we aren't IN the water, we are around the water...on boats, in the sand with sea mist, etc. Then we can dive in and record the fish. Comes preloaded with flipshare software...just plug in to computer and it pops up. Only one with stereo sound.
M: Colors don't appear as good on the Mino as the other cameras. Thinnest camera. Make sure you get the one that only comes in the color aluminum or brushed metal. If it comes in any other colors it is the 1st generation MinoHD and they improved upon that one in the newer models. Great audio. Better shooting in low light than most mini cameras. Camera comes preloaded with FlipShare software. Can get still images through flipshare software.
CL: Decent filming in low light but not nearly as good as the Ultra or Mino; Software is preloaded in camcorder.
K: This is the only camera that I compared without the built in image stabilizatin which corrects for shaky images. What appears to be metal in picture is actually a chrome colored plastic. That said, this had the largest viewing screen of all of them. 2.4" Very poor in low light and seemed to have far more shaking and blurring. It also takes still pictures but they are really really poor quality...same as a lesser-quality cell phone pictures but good in a pinch if you want a still shot and have no cell or camera I s'pose. Heaviest for a pocket camera. Software is not preloaded in camcorder but a cd comes with it.

And, finally, the reviews of the Flip from experts swayed me quite a bit:

There were lootttts more I came across when researching the Flip Ultra HD but those are some of my favorites.

CONCLUSION: Clearest picture and sound was important to me, expert reviews that pointed to the Flip UltraHD as well and I liked the built in software and the case I can get to shoot underwater. It is the number one selling camcorder as well. So that was my personal decision-making process. However, keep in mind that if you need reading glasses none of that will matter if the 2" screen is too small for your viewing the shots easily for playback in which case you may wish to get the Kodak if that's important to you..

Also: No matter which one you get, you will probably want a mini tripod if you ever want to be in the shot yourself do don't forget those.

Also note: It's confusing because when these manufacturers make changes in the camcorders, they do not change the names on the new versions, nor do they change the names if it's an HD version or a non-HD version so be sure you look for the "HD" after the brand name and look for "2nd generation" or "newer version" on the Mino and Vado if you like one of those better so you don't get the older models.

Hope my obsessive comparing and contrasting for my own purchasing assistance helped you as well even if what you wanted in a camera was different from me. :-)

After searching high and low, I have to admit - this is the best leather style grip. It feels extremely luxurious and does not degrade the style of the iphone. The leather is smooth and well crafted - the fit is perfect. It is extremely thin and gives adequate access to the buttons for a case like this. Since it is leather, the "snap" action isn't as tight as some other brands of grip cases but I feel it is adequate to stay on the phone.

so far sony has been the ONLY blank media that has given me praticaly perfect results. I have purchased about 4 spindle packs of the dual layer 8.5 discs and have had only 2 be faulty and not record, and about the same of the 4.7 with 0 faulty discs. other brands i tried were just sub-par and on spindle of another brand and every disc was rejected about half way thru recording.... what a waste of money. Sony brand media is the only media i will ever buy now or ever as it is VERY reliable and a brand i trust with great results everytime.

I have a Dell Laptop (XPS M1330) with a built-in DVD burner and use Imgburn as the software. I used to have no problem with Memorex's DVD DL until recently, when almost all the discs I bought were un-burnable. Then due to the good reviews, I switched over to Verbatim, which usually burns fine, but whenever I playback the DVD's, I'll almost always have problems at the transition point between the first and second layer, or at some points in the middle of the second layer. So then I give Sony a try, and so far with a decent success rate (All successfully burned DVD's also played fine). I did have some discs that couldn't be burned, so the reliability is not 100%. But in my case, I had better experience with Sony than Verbatim or Memorex.

I'm dubbing 8mm tapes from a sony GV-D200 video walkman to a sony DVDirect VRD-MC5 using this DVD+R DLs. From 12 DVDs recorded, 1 didn't finalized and 3 of them freez the picture near same time, in this case at 1 hour 55 min xx sec. This DVDs can record up to 215 min in SP mode. 25% of this DVDs, at the moment didn't work. Waste of time and more wear to the 8mm tapes for a new recording. Defective manufacture process.

Highland Destiny by Laura Hunsaker is an exciting tale of time travel, love, deception, and a bonny Highlander or two. The story emerges with Mackenzie Stewart and her best friend, Jenna, at the beginning of their vacation in Scotland. While the two are attending a tour through the castle, Mackenzie is abducted by two sorcerers who take her back in time to 1792 with them.

She has been kidnapped to thwart a curse, bring peace to the Highland clans, and end the life of the Campbell who is slowly becoming more mad by venturing into the manipulations of the dark arts to further his own political gain. To help the scheme along, Mackenzie needs to pretend to be the Campbell's betrothed.

Low and behold, in the middle of the sorcerers explaining the game plan, Mackenzie is then abducted a second time by Connor MacRae. Mackenzie is astonished to be looking into a pair of stunning blue she has been dreaming about since she was a teenager. Destiny and fate play a big part in the joining of Mackenzie and Connor's lives.

At first, the purpose of Connor's abduction of Mackenzie is to best the Campbell who is his sworn enemy - and nothing more. As Conner gets to know this trying and intriguing wench, he was not prepared for the strength of feeling she elicits within his body and heart. In turn, she has feelings for him that run just as deep physically and emotionally. The love affair is hot and strong for them; but, trust comes more tentatively. Looking forward to more from this author.

Laura Hunsaker leads the reader on a wonderful journey through her narrative by offering beautiful descriptions of the Scottish countryside, love, deceit, brutality, and the loyalty of family and clan. She uses the insights offered by Mackenzie's and Connor's point of view to enrapture her audience with these descriptions. Highland Destiny is a very satisfying read for Hunsaker's debut novel into the romance genre.

Young and flirty Mackenzie Stewart is on vaca with her bestie Jenna in the highlands of 2010 Scotland. Having a little fun looking at a delicious portrait of a hunka hunka burning Braveheart that she's met in her dreams, Mackenzie finds herself being abducted by 2 Harry Potter type dudes. Harry Potter? Well, maybe a Gandalf and a Potter... wait... Is Gandalf from Lord of the Rings? Ummmms....

Anyways... Mackenzie is abducted by 2 wizardy dudes and taken back in time to DA DA DA..... Land before toilets (sometime in the 17th century) to defeat an evil baddy.

Now, you ask... how on earth is a buxom 20-something from Las Vegas going to beat an evil baddy? With her show girl experience? Wow them with her knowledge of Criss Angel?

Actually... I wasn't for sure either cuz I have no idea what her job was and that's why I liked this book. For one... Mackenzie was not a freaking brainiac chick that read uber stuffy boring novels written back before the land before toilets (don't hate.... you know it's true... every heroine in highlander broody novels is a freaking genius and this threatens my simple mind lol). She's a real girl that actually talks like a 23 year old and not an English Major would on her bliggity blog (oh yeah... I've noticed hahas). Very refreshing! It didn't leave me wanting to stangle her ;)

So, we have this girly kidnapped by two bibbidy bobbidy boos, on her way to defeat an evil dude, when all of the sudden she's swooped out of the hocus pocus clutches of Thing 1 and Thing 2 and into the arms of a chiseled nom in leather pants and fabio-esq hair. NOM!! ok ok... maybe not fabio-esq hair... OH!! Let's say he has Gavin Rossdale hair from "Razorblade Suitcase". NOMS!!

Better?

Ok....

Into his arms she is whisked away by a delicious highlander named Connor. Mackenzie learns that Connor has been having a feud with Lord Evil Campbell for a bit and he's going to play keep away with his new bride to be.

Oh... did I leave that part out? Yeah, in order to save the world it seems that mild mannered Mackenzie has to marry the evil dude as well as save the world. But why on earth would she want to do that when she's got this young, rippling, bulging, scarred up nom in leather pants to look at? I mean... I would probably be very tempted to forget what I promised to two wizzardy dudes if I had a nice hunk of man-meat like Connor to look at. Oh, let's face it... Lex Luthor would win but I'd be happy until I was enslaved (I assume evil back to the future dudes would try to enslave the world)

What ever will Mackenzie do? Will she follow her destiny or follow her heart?

To be frank I was a little put off reading this. I know the Author and was worried that I would read her book and discover it wasn't to my liking. How then am I supposed to review and tell her that it wasn't all that it was cracked up to be? So I waited and came to an agreement with myself that once it became published as a Paperback I would take the plunge and read it. Finally it was released as a P/B and do you think I could get my hands on it? NOPE! - So after much deliberation I caved and downloaded Highland Destiny - onto my tiny iphone ereader, and those who know me know that I do not like ereaders AT ALL, so this was a big feat for me.

Luckily, it turned out to be more than worth it.

Now, Im not going to praise this book because I do know the author - that just wouldn't be fair. But I will praise this book because it is genuinely a fantastic book. I found Highland Destiny to be addictive and well- crafted. The vengeful enemy is diabolical and the story line was fresh, unique and unparallel to anything I have read in recent times. The love scenes are scorching hot and pulled at my heart strings with their emotional intensity. Every scene was packed full of suspenseful peril or steamy passion or even funny quick humour and clever banter - the reactions of the characters really grabbed me.

I could not have loved Highland Destiny more and hated for it to end. This is defiantly the start of a rising star.

The good: The Pilots Pen works and preforms fairly well. The light is balanced not too brite/dim and casts a consistent light that makes it possible to write in less than traditional conditions. The housing is thicker but I don't find it to be very much of an issue. The pen came with a slightly bent pocket clip not un-serviceable but enough to be a bummer after the cost; it is however sturdy. The clip sits in a groove that keeps it in place. I find it comfortable to write with and I like the very small extra heft.

O.K. I do have a few "issues" with The Pilots Pen so lets get to it. Number 1 on my list the click/plunger light switch should be for the pen the main function. Number 2 the rotating switch should be textured to facilitate one handed operation. The light should also be on the rotating switch so there is much less of a chance of accidental activation.

Bottom line a bit pricey for the product but over all I like it I just don't love it.

On the plus side, this is a fairly solid lighted pen. The LEDs are bright and work well, and it comes with an extra battery and four ink cartridge refills.

However, the design of the pen is odd, and that makes it difficult to use. In order to extend and retract the ballpoint, you have to twist a knob on the top of the pen. Except the knob doesn't look like a knob, and barely functions as one. No knurling or other grip to make it usable. As a result, you'll want to leave the ballpoint out, which means it will probably dry up quickly, or just forget about it and use this pen as a flashlight.

I'm keeping it because there doesn't seem to be a better option on Amazon, but that doesn't make this a good pen. I'll be replacing it as soon as I can find something better.

This pilot's pen is fantastic: I'm an academic and I grade exams, proof-read my own writing or mark up books and articles wherever I go. This pen has a great feel, writes well, and most importantly, it provides that extra light when I need it - - on airplanes, in the car, at the doctor's office in the waiting room, and everywhere else. This pen beats any of the high-priced name brand pens I have on my desk. I also bought the pilot's pen as a gift for my 75-year old father who uses it every day for crossword puzzles and sudoku. He just loves that pen and he tells everyone proudly that he is using a pilot's pen. It's so hard to buy a gift for him and for not even $20 I found something that he uses every day and that makes his favorite pastime easier to see. Moreover, the battery and the ink last forever. Both my dad and I have been using the pen daily for over six months now and we're still on the original battery and ink. Two thumbs up for this great pen! Buy more than one!

I like this unit but was disappointed because of hot swapping issues - my Win 7 x64 system does not seem to easily recognize newly installed HDs. I found that if I insert the HD, let it spin up, then detach and re-attach the SATA cable that it is detected, but that isn't a workable solution. I have also tried the program "HotSwap!". Oh well... I could keep trying to find a solution but I'm giving this unit 5 stars because I doubt the problem is with this product. However, the unit I received had opened or damaged packaging, which was strange... but still look unused.

This unit also does not have any LED lights like the Kingwin mentioned below.

On a final note, I thought the documentation was lacking with it's description of the "eject button" which is more of a lock button to lock the drive in place. The button should be held down when pulling the drive out to unlock the drive.

UPDATE: While I like this unit I think the less expensive "Kingwin 3.5IN Sata Mobile Rack Tray Less Hot Swap Rack" is even better (though it does not have the eSATA port). I recommend the "Kingwin 3.5IN Sata Mobile Rack Tray Less Hot Swap Rack" instead. I'm dropping this unit to 4 stars and giving the Kingwin 5 stars.

Very well made. No electronics, just a cable and fixed connector between your drive and your motherboard sata port, ie., nothing to really fail or cause data corruption except your cables. You MUST have AHCI or Raid enabled during OS installation and in bios and drivers installed to use hotswap for those that don't know, eg., the two previous reviewers. You don't have to use Raid, just have the drivers installed. Good for backups or removable storage or even replaceable raid drives. One of the coolest PC addons I have ever used. I liked it so much, I bought two. E-sata port would work well with an external enclosure solution with a power adapter and Antec has a nice one of those also.Antec MX-1 USB/e-SATA 3.5-Inch Hard Drive Enclosure Then you could backup your laptop with USB 2.0 or E-sata with an express-card. Ensure you press the release button while installing or removing the drive so you don't break the lock.

This docking station was just what I was looking for as a neat solution to backups. It's well made for the price, and fit the case perfectly.
However, I had to do some head-scratching after installing and trying it out for the first time. The drives I plugged in were not being recognized. I plugged the drives in directly through the same SATA data and power cables I had attached o the unit, and the drives showed up no problem. I might have written it off to a dud unit and returned it for another, but it's such a darned simple thing I couldn't see what could go wrong. I pulled it out of the case and carefully observed how the internal SATA dock mates with the drive. You slide the drive into the dock until it stops, then press the button to allow it to move back the last inch or so past the locks, then it mates with the SATA bus inside. A firm push and you can feel it click into place.
Or can you? Upon closer examination, I noticed the first feeling that you've made the connection is wrong. There is still a tiny space left, about 1mm. It takes more force to seat it that final fraction. After a bit of getting used to it I've had no more problems.
I'd buy another if I needed one in the future.

If you're looking for a less expensive option than purchasing Pocket Wizards, this is it. These units work fine in a basic setting, but I doubt they have the range of a PW system. Also, these units are not as durable as the PWs.

The receiver is pretty easy to figure out, but I can't find a way to replace the battery in the transmitter that attaches to your hot shoe.

I purchased these after my more expensive ones malfuction. I was a little worried about them because of the price but they came highly reccommended. Well after I used them for the first time, I have ordered a second set to have on hand these things are great, I have not had one mis fire in over several hundered shots. They do appear to be a little delicate but they do just what they are supposed to do. I have spent more on other units and thought because of the price I was gettting a better piece of equipment, but these triggers work much better. I have not figured out how to change the battery in the transmitter but at the pirce, I can always by another. I have used them on two light at once, and have not had a problem.

You do have to hand crank it on the stove for a couple of minutes to ensure even popping but it's definitely worth the small effort. My kids and I love it.
